In his role as the Playa & Water Conservation Outreach Specialist for the Texas Panhandle, Joe enjoys developing relationships with landowners and conservation partners and helping communities stabilize water supplies for future generations. He was drawn to this position because of PLJV’s successful history of partnership-driven restoration that facilitates and supports local stewardship of natural resources.
Joe graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in wildlife & fisheries sciences and a double major in entomology. During his early professional career, he worked on several seasonal internships in order to gain experience and insight into the wildlife profession. Joe worked with multiple species in several states including bobwhite quail in Texas, elk in Colorado and wild turkeys in Oklahoma. In 2023, he moved to the Texas Panhandle to pursue a masters degree in wildlife, aquatic and wildlands science and management at Texas Tech University.
A seasoned photographer and writer, Joe enjoys crafting innovative stories surrounding wildlife research, outdoor heritage, natural resources management and conservation. He is also an Eagle Scout, a former education docent for the San Antonio Zoo, and an active volunteer with Texas Brigades and the state chapter of The Wildlife Society.
