The mission of Colorado Parks and Wildlife is to preserve and protect the wildlife resources of the state of Colorado, so collaboration with PLJV and the important work happening with playa conservation directly overlaps. Brian appreciates that PLJV is action oriented and produces results. Being on the board provides him with an opportunity to network with others in the conservation field, which is a huge benefit.
As the Terrestrial Section Manager at CPW, Brian oversees a staff of about 75 employees statewide including units that focus on habitat conservation, hunted species, and species of concern. He has been with CPW for 20 years, starting as a wildlife biologist managing wildlife on the eastern plains and around Pikes Peak, before becoming a Senior Wildlife Biologist and supervising a team of biologists in southeast Colorado for 12 years.
A longtime resident of Colorado, Brian received a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology from Colorado State University and then completed a master’s degree in wildlife biology at Michigan State University. He enjoys hunting, fishing and camping with my family.
